Resource management -- e.g., in the form of scheduling or memory management -- is traditionally one of the most important tasks of an operating system. Through the growing use of cloud computing, however, resource management beyond the single computer is becoming an increasingly important topic. In this seminar, we will examine new research on resource management in both small (single computers) and large contexts (clusters).
Participants will research a particular topic, and then prepare an interesting presentation for the seminar that summarizes the research. The presentations are in English or German, and should last around 15 to 20 minutes, with a question/discussion period of 5 to 10 minutes.
