  • Abstract:

Asynchronous communication provides parallelism, message buffering, and a convenient programming model. Although it inherently introduces performance penalties and implicit policies, existing operating system implement asynchronous communication in the kernel. This thesis shows how flexibility and performance can be exported to applications by safely achieving asynchronous semantics at user level based on synchronous IPC primitives.
