System Resource Management

Content

Resource management -- e.g., in the form of scheduling or memory management -- is traditionally one of the most important tasks of an operating system. Yet, changing workloads continuously pose a wide range of new challenges, ranging from the need to efficiently schedule complex cloud applications with tight latency requirements to the integration and management of new types of accelerators. In this seminar, we will examine new research on resource management which tries to address these upcoming challenges.

Participants will research a particular topic, and then prepare an interesting presentation for the seminar that summarizes the research. The presentations are in English or German, and should last around 15 to 20 minutes, with a question/discussion period of 5 to 10 minutes.

Organization

We will meet for the first time on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018, 1:00 PM, in R 148, Bldg. 50.34. Topics will be assigned and the form of the seminar will be specified (weekly or en bloc, dates, etc.).
